Media Release: April 25, 2016 Re: Murder of Jenna Gazzola
HAMILTON, ONTARIO, April 25, 2016 – Hamilton’s Woman Abuse Working Group is devastated and outraged by the recent murder of Jenna Gazzola (34) on Monday, April 18, 2016.
According to police, Jenna Gazzola was found dead inside her apartment. A male neighbour has been charged with first degree murder. No further details have been released at this time.
The Woman Abuse Working Group is mourning the tragic death of yet another woman in our community. This is the second femicide in Hamilton this week, and the third this year. Violence against women is a pandemic issue in Canada, and the killing of women is the most extreme form of gender-based violence. We all have a responsibility to end violence against women, in all its forms.
WAWG denounces all acts of violence, and in particular violence that is targeted towards women. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jenna Gazzola.
