May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month

Hamilton, Wednesday April 27, 2016 – The Woman Abuse Working Group (WAWG), a coalition of more than twenty agencies working to end violence against women, is pleased to present a public service announcement campaign, which will be airing throughout the month of May at Cineplex Media in Hamilton, as part of May’s Sexual Violence Prevention Month.

May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month to raise awareness and inspire action to end sexual violence. In Canada, one in three women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime.* Sexual assault (any unwanted sexual touching) is just one example of sexual violence, which can include: jokes/comments, street harassment, unwanted physical contact, and stalking.

The Public Awareness & Education committee, a subcommittee of WAWG, will launch this special video in both English and French. This campaign aims at challenging stereotypes and myths about sexual violence. Please join us at the below address to launch the video.
